If you didn't back Apothecaria or did back but didn't choose Bundled Shipping, none of this affects you, just go through the Backerkit normally. 

Likewise, if you're digital only just go through the Backerkit normally.

Hey everyone,

There's been a lot of comments and messages over the past week asking about the Backerkit survey and the whole Bundled Shipping - do not fill in this survey stuff.

We appreciate that this got handled in a bit of an awkward way (Anna says she takes all the blame) but as there isn't a way to do this sort of thing in Backerkit, we had to get creative and it seems like Backerkit's automated systems have been annoying and confusing people.

So this is the full run-down of what's happening with the surveys and bundled shipping and how this is a bit different from your usual pledge manager stuff:

1) We already have about 200 odd bundled shipping orders that got packed with Anna's side of things and have address labels already on them. You paid for shipping when you went through that survey so all we're doing now is getting my side of things printed, packed into those envelopes, and sent out.

This means that if you fill out the survey for Tooth & Claw, because of how Backerkit works, it will charge you shipping again which is why we've been saying to ignore the survey if you've already bundled your order with Apothecaria.

It's a bit confusing, especially when Backerkit's automated email keeps sending ominous reminders but don't worry. Check in with Anna on the Apothecaria side of things and she can tell you if you've already filled out that survey and if we have your order ready and waiting.

2) Digital Rewards. Normally these are distributed through Backerkit but because we're asking you to ignore the survey, we'll be sending these out via email. They'll arrive in your Kickstarter email which we get from the Kickstarter backer report so don't worry, you still don't need to do anything.

3) If your address has changed since the Apothecaria survey in June, let Anna know and she'll update the address where she can. If you need to change your Tooth & Claw survey address, it hasn't locked yet so you still have until the 5th of November to change it.

4) Physical pledges include Tooth & Claw, Tooth & Claw: Beast of the Sea, and the mini-zines. The add-ons in the Backerkit store are just for people who might want extras for friends/ family who missed the Kickstarter. This will charge shipping again because the order will be too big for a single large letter (which is what the bundled shipping covers). 

and lastly, if the emails are annoying you, mute the term "Tooth & Claw" or filter them to your spam folder.

The Backerkit surveys have now been sent out to everyone. I'm hoping to get all the surveys in and sorted for the 5th of November so we can get shipped by the end of November.

The link to the survey should be in your email. Most likely in Promotions if you're using Gmail or Spam if it isn't in your main inbox.

Smoke Test And Progress

Hey Everyone! 

We've just launched the Backerkit Smoke Test which means about 5% of each reward tier will get emails just to let us make sure that everything is laid out properly and clearly. Once we're sure there are no issues, we'll open it up to everyone. Which will probably be Sunday or Monday as we're gonna be out in the hinterlands for a few days.

The big weird thing to keep in mind for this Backerkit is that we may already have your details and your shipping payment IF you went through the Apothecaria Backerkit and chose Bundled Shipping. If you did,  please don't fill out the survey again as you'll end up paying more shipping than you need to.

If you didn't do that, then fill it out normally and we should be ready to ship at the end of November when people have had time to fill out the Backerkit and I've had a chance to get proof copies and make sure there are no printing problems :)

Progress

All the writing and main art is done for Tooth & Claw and Beasts of the Sea. All I've got to do now are some last quick field sketches, editing, and layout.

Hey guys!  

I’m really sorry about this but I think it’s best to push back the date of Tooth and Claw. I can’t apologise enough, I know you guys paid for a product and expected it at a certain date but I underestimated how much time it would take to do everything alone and how much life could pile on in a few months. I’ve been down for about a month straight with covid, my partner got a job and I ended up with a huge unexpected workload to help her out, and I’ve been seeing people around me rush to get products out for deadlines and make a lot of mistakes because of it. I could, and had planned to rush and get it out by September but honestly, I think it will be a better product with the extra time. I’m going to push the date to November for now. Hopefully I’ll get everything done before then but November at the latest. After that y’all have the right to sharpen the pitchforks.  

If you picked bundled shipping for Tooth & Claw and Apothecaria and are really wanting your copy of Apothecaria now just drop either of us a message and we’ll sort it out. Don’t worry, it’s no trouble and I get it, I’m the most impatient person ever. I’ve paid ludicrous amounts of money to get things just a bit earlier.  

As for progress, I’ve just finished the last beastie for the aquatic book. I still have the nitpicky stuff to do like layout, typo hunting, and the odd wee bit of art but the content is all in there. (Unless I up the page count and add in a crab based on a sort of cross between the pistol shrimp and a brachidios from monster hunter which I really really want to do but I’m already complaining about time and…. Ahem. I digress) . I’m switching my focus to the main book now which already has a few monsters in it like the basilisk you’ve already seen a bit of, the banner monster, and a sauropod that looks a bit too much like Patrick Stewart for my liking. I’ll have to fix that.  

As for the £100 backers out there I plan on reaching out to you guys at the end for two reasons: 1. So that I can get the main product out as quickly as possible and 2. Because that way I’ll have had the most practice by the time I come to you and can do the best job I can.

Slow And Steady - Update 2

Hi Everyone, Anna from Apothecaria here :) 

Shanice has been plugging away over the last month researching, designing, and drawing but she sorta sucks at the social media side of things so I'll be stepping in to handle that. 

Seeing Tooth & Claw come together has been awesome because each creature has a research phase where Shanice tries to find something in nature similar to what she's creating. From heat dissipating fins to tail stripe pack identification to even more outlandish things like her version of the basilisk which is inspired by a fish that uses an electric organ located behind each eye to emit a shock through its eyes! 

Apart from that, not much to report just now except that I'll be working as Shanice's press secretary from now on as I kind of enjoy it and she would much rather be getting on with the SCIENCE. Which is why the group of whales in the last update was mistakenly labelled a "pack" of whales.

For the next update, I'll get her to explain one of her creature ideas and do my best to relay that back to y'all :)
